    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • My overall day to day tasks were assisting my team on varying tasks from vigilant checking to working with the client to ensure consistency and that no mistakes or fraudulent activities had occurred. On the teams are employees of all hierarchies which is great experience as you are involved in work for everyone. On top of this is general training for financial law as well as general audit training and how to carry out the audit.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I have learnt many new skills whilst doing audit at PWC. A lot of these have come from the various trainings we have done including financial law, fraud and bribery. Furthermore, I have learnt so much about the audit process, including how it is set out, then carried out and then finalised by the team. I had no experience of the audit process before this so being able to take part allowed me to learn so much from it.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I was given a lot of responsibility during my placement at PWC. A lot of the tasks I carried out were ones that were taken off my colleagues workload and given to me to fulfill. I was trusted with the work that I had done to be submitted to the audit and put forward to be checked and examined by the senior managers . Furthermore I was given the responsibility to present my ideas for company development to a real social enterprise company.

  • Please rate how meaningful the work you were doing was
  • 4/5

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I received a lot of support and guidance throughout my time at PWC. Having been given a 'buddy' and 'career coach' for my time, this gave me multiple people to talk to about any issues or questions about the job or day to day life at PWC. Furthermore, in my team for the client, I had people of all levels who were very open to answering my questions and helping me with work that In was given to do.

  • How would you rate the support and guidance from the wider team?

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The PWC culture was great. I felt they really looked after my well-being, encouraging me to use summer hours and take breaks to socialise and network amongst doing my job and helping the team. The general atmosphere was a very nice on to work in. Speaking from experience of the reading office, the atmosphere was very chilled and friendly which made it very comfortable to work in every day and made me really want to come into the office as opposed to working from home.

  • How would you rate the inclusiveness of the culture?
  • 5/5

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my time at PWC albeit brief. Everyone in the office was so friendly and the work was a lot more engaging than i thought it would be. Having so many other interns doing the same job was so nice to be able to help each other as well as socialising throughout the day. Having side projects offered to us furthered the experience, allowing us to push ourselves presenting to real companies and working with interns all over the country to create ways to develop small firms.

  • Please rate the future employment prospects at PwC

  • 7. Would you recommend PwC to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to PwC
  • The advice I would give to others applying to PWC is to research their current methods for a better working balance and what they try to promote as a company, whether that be sustainability, diversity or a good work-life balance. I would further recommend being knowledgeable about progression at PWC such as the financial qualifications you would take as well as PWC's approach to real-time feedback. Don't worry about limited audit knowledge originally as the training is great and you will learn so much very quickly.
