    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Conducting research to assist planning professionals in meeting the needs of their clients. Completing site visits and sitting in on planning meetings from the pre-application stage through to the later stages, gaining valuable hands-on experience and an additional perspective from the council's side. Receiving regular talks from Savills employees, providing overviews of the various departments and career paths available.

  • I now have a much better understanding of the entire planning process. The ability to efficiently and thoroughly research and navigate planning applications from various Authorities. I also improved my communication skills by interacting with planners and learning how to complete the tasks assigned to me.

  • I was given enough responsibility, which increased as the internship progressed, and I had a better rapport with my coworkers and a better understanding of what the various projects entailed.

  • I received a lot of guidance, especially from my graduate mentor who constantly aided me when I was unsure how to undergo certain tasks. Coworkers were constantly going out of their way to improve my knowledge and give me an insight into their projects and career paths.

  • Very friendly and family-like atmosphere. You immediately felt like you belonged in the office.

  • I really enjoyed it. I learned a lot and got a good idea of what a job in planning would entail if I decided to pursue it in the future. After this experience, I am strongly encouraged to apply for the graduate scheme.
