    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • For the international marketing portion of the placement my day to day consisted of a number of marketing material reviews including social posts and influencers or KOLs. There were also regular meetings with markets which I attended and took notes for. The rest of the time was often taken up with ad hoc requests to support these international markets. For communications and PR the majority of reviews were of press releases . There was also a lot of calendar management, agency meetings and asset collation.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • This placement has been incredibly valuable in terms of both learning new skills and developing existing ones. Working between two teams has developed both my time management and my people skills. During my placement there was also a restructure and a merger. Though this didn’t feel ideal at the time, they ended up being invaluable in terms of the resilience and adaptability they encouraged. What I have noticed most though, is the increase in my confidence professionally.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • This placement was ideal for those who might be looking for some more responsibility than the classic intern role. The team encouraged me to take ownership of projects from the very beginning, and this increased as my skills and knowledge increased throughout the year. Through the support and encouragement of the team, I reached a stage where I was able to sign off materials of my own accord, which made the placement highly rewarding. Contributions in meetings were also encouraged.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • There was a large amount of support and guidance available from a number of sources. The early learning team offered support out with your immediate team, and though I never felt the need to use them I was always aware of how to access their support. My direct team offered a great amount of support and were always on hand if I had any questions. What I found most surprising was that even external teams (agencies, stakeholders, etc) showed interest in providing career guidance towards the end of my placement.

  • How would you rate the support and guidance from the wider team?

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The general atmosphere of the company was slightly more difficult to gauge as a large proportion of my placement was still virtual. There were a few larger events that took place in person which always seemed very friendly. Generally speaking I have always found people in the company to be approachable, regardless of their status within the company. This is also a company that seems to value work life balance, and office perks like pizza and Prosecco Wednesdays were great opportunities to relax and meet other teams.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I absolutely loved my placement. From start to finish I felt a valued and appreciated member of a fantastic team. My confidence and professional skills have improved massively and I am genuinely excited for my next career move. Though the work itself has been interesting, it is the team I was able to learn from that made the placement as enjoyable as it was. I will be very sad to leave now that my placement is over.

  • 7. Would you recommend Warner Bros. Discovery to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to Warner Bros. Discovery
  • Don’t ignore some of the roles available that may seem like less obvious choices. There is a huge range of opportunities across divisions that are so interesting. Get involved with some of the internal groups (e.g Women of Warner). These are great opportunities to connect and learn and I wish I had made better use of them whilst I could. Most importantly, give it your best whilst at WBD. There are a huge amount of ex interns in permanent positions so it’s definitely worth treating it as an extended interview!
