    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Different every day, often worked on different communications and marketing projects with my team and aided in the development of creative assets and key visuals. Also helped stay on top of budgets and POs as well as organise various events that occurred within the company.

  • Yes, I have really been able to develop my leadership and communication skills by becoming project lead in a few areas. I have also been able to improve my organisational and time management as one needs to stay on top of everything in order to keep ahead of deadlines.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • For the most part yes but at the beginning as I was still learning and training in some areas, so I wasn't given too much responsibility to begin with but as my experience ad confidence grew, so did my responsibilities.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I received a lot of support from my line manager during my placement year and from my close team. It was a really great working environment and if I was ever stuck on anything, I was able to ask anyone and not feel bad or embarrassed - everyone was really helpful and supportive.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Really light-hearted and fun environment when in meetings and working in the office, but everyone did work hard as well - good balance. People were always up for a chat as well and not everything was about work 24/7, was able to build good work relationships with my team.

  • Make sure to be yourself and see if the company fits your own views and values as well as offers a job you desire. Unilever try to hire people that are sociable and friendly and who are also hard working. It's not all about work but also building relationships and having those connections to help with future projects, so make sure you take the time to get to know your team.
