    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • Day to day, we had various training sessions with members of different departments and sectors of Clyde & Co. We also had several hours per day completing department work, in which we were given task by our supervisor in our given department to complete relevant to the work we were doing.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I was able to enhance my legal research skills in a way that I have not been able to do on my law degree. I was also given the chance to put my networking skills into practice in an in-person environment for the first time.

    Business Insight

  • 3. What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
  • The vacation scheme allowed me to liaise with various lawyers from different departments within the firm, hence exposing me to certain practices that I had not considered previously. This was helped by the fact that we were given department work in a seat that we did not choose.

    Culture

  • 4. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The firm was welcoming to its vacation scheme students with many being taken out to lunch by their departments. However, this caused conflict as some of us were not lucky enough to be taken to lunch. There was also a lunch for vacation scheme students organised by trainees at the firm that hald of us were not invited to.

    Your Impressions

  • 5. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I enjoyed the insight greatly in the fact that I was able to meet and network, but as mentioned I was disappointed that some of us were left out of some social events just because we were not lucky enough to have a trainee that was part of the group of friends that organised the expensed lunch.
