    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • I work with agencies to create materials such as websites for healthcare professionals, support items for patients, disease awareness campaigns, or materials to support the field force colleagues etc. I also ensure that materials have been reviewed by a number of different colleagues and coordinate this process. I also consider metrics when planning digital projects to ensure they are successful. Daily I join calls also to update/work with other colleagues on projects.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I have developed communication skills hugely, and am confident to work with external agencies to create materials. I have developed time management hugely also. My digital skills have increase a lot, now being familiar with terminology used to analyse digital metrics and expanding on my excel/software skills a lot.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I was given much more responsibility than expected, which was really exciting. I was involved in a launch brand, which was a brilliant opportunity and involved a lot of time pressure to deliver key materials. I was allowed to make big decisions on most projects and was trusted to lead many myself.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I had weekly 1:1 meetings with my manager to update on progress, ask questions, and talk about my personal development. There were also lots of workshops and guidance from the undergraduate careers team. My business unit was also close knit and I knew most members of the wider team really well. Occasionally you wouldn't know who to ask for help due to the size of the organisation, but team members could direct you.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The culture within my business unit was why I loved the placement so much, everyone recognised eachothers work and treated undergraduates like any other colleague in terms of respect. The whole organisation was great, everyone helps eachother and is friendly, especially in the office. Lots of opportunities exist to network as well, such as Espresso meetings where you sign up for a coffee chat with a mystery colleague. There are LGBT/disability/ethnicity groups too.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I really enjoyed it. It was stressful at times with a big workload, but very rewarding due to the responsibility. I built great relationships with other colleagues, especially the undergrads/apprentices when I went into the office.

  • 7. Would you recommend Pfizer to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to Pfizer
  • Make the most of the social side of it as well if you can, it's easy to stay working from home but I built great relationships by going in and meeting people. It is also hard work but if you get to know the brand well and understand what an impact you are having on patients, it is very rewarding and you feel motivated to deliver your projects.
