    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • Day to day we were on Q&A sessions with members of the firm across different areas, working on a group project evaluating an M&A deal and Fitch training on on Investment Banking

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Definitely improved my communication and research skills on the M&A evaluation. Also improved presentation skills learning the standards that an IB pitch deck must live up to.

    Business Insight

  • 3. What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
  • Incredibly interesting a lot about the specifics of IB roles can be hard to find on forums or internet searches but the firm members were more than happy to explain the specifics of their role and what their days look like. It made me feel more comfortable in deciding a career pathway.

    Culture

  • 4. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • It felt fairly relaxed which surprised me. There was a focus on knowing what you wanted to do and doing it extremely well. The European and historical roots of the firm also showed in the culture with a very practical approach to everything. Calm environment and not very flashy.

    Your Impressions

  • 5. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • Being able to ask members of the firm the questions you really wanted to find the solutions to was enjoyable especially since this was actively encouraged. Working with other Interns on an M&A deal was very fulfilling and something very nice to add to your CV. If you enjoy learning and applying it you will find it enjoyable.

  • 8. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Rothschild & Co
  • 1. Research the values of the firm and incorporate them in group interviews, situational judgement tests and personal interviews. They get a lot of applications from many strong applicants so try to fit into the culture to be a better candidate. 2. Practice situational judgement tests and maths tests. 3. Be authentic know your strengths and show them. 4. Be active and show what you can do outside of the just your degree.
