    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • I do the Studio Operations Invoice run every week. The invoice run meeting is held on Wednesdays, so Monday to Wednesday, I raise invoices that need to be paid from productions or credit notes to be paid to productions. I mostly use the system Xytech for this process. I also use SAP, Excel and Adobe Acrobat in my day-to-day.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I have developed skills in using programs such as Xytech and SAP. I have also developed my knowledge of Excel skills as I use Excel frequently in my day to day. As well as that, I have expanded my skills with Outlook as that plays a huge part in how my organisation communicates. I have developed my social skills, such as being professional in the workplace but still being friendly as well.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I did not do the invoice run by myself at the start. I started by assisting on some roles that were needed for the invoice run and as the weeks went on, I was trusted with more responsibility. After a few weeks, I was doing it all on my own. So, I have quite a bit of responsibility for it.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I have received a lot of support and guidance throughout my placement. I have weekly one-to-ones with my manager and my team have a weekly catch up. This has been so useful, especially since I worked at home for some of my placement. Everyone in my team are open to help me with anything and I feel comfortable to ask them any questions.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I have really enjoyed my placement. It not only has given me an insight on the working world but I have had the opportunity to work in one of the top entertainment companies. I've seen behind the scenes what goes on during production and I have experienced things I never would've, if I had gone to an accounting firm. I definitely would do this experience again.

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to Warner Bros. Discovery
  • Be yourself and try to wow the recruiters. You should show them what makes you different and how hiring you would be the best thing they did. To make the most out of this placement, I would tell you to say yes to everything - even if it means commuting such a long way, as when would you get the chance to do it again. Also, don't forget to network! Connections are everything! Good luck!
