We spent five days with the firm which involved various networking drinks and events, a number of talks on the different areas of the business, a group innovation challenge, a Q&A with the managing partner and time spent with a lawyer in our chosen area which included tackling real work.
I developed my ability to network effectively, to work effectively with a group and to present ideas well.
IT was a fascinating insight into the inner workings of a large international law firm.
Extremely welcoming and friendly.
I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I would recommend speaking to whoever you can to identify the specific skills required of a trainee at A&O. Then do what you can to develop a portfolio of experiences which demonstrate these skills; some key areas to focus on would be drive, commitment, creativity and entrepreneurial spirit. When applying, always consider what the firm wants and how you can offer it to them.
