    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • The role involved the creation of financial statements within the company and overseeing the company financial transactions. On the day to day, you would look into intracompany transactions of subsidiaries and work with accounting journals. Each month would have repeating responsibilities alongside ad hoc work as it appears in the role.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • Working a full-time job juggling many responsibilities really helps you develop your time management and prioritisation skills. Soft skills especially communication are fleshed out as you communicate within your department and across the world. Also learning all about different finance functions within a large company and how they would interact first hand.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • At the start, you are given a good amount of responsibility but it grows as your skills and capability do too. You are responsible for important reports that are sent daily on intracompany transactions and used by the global finance department so you do get given important work. Responsibility goes hand in hand with capability, if you are willing to learn and are capable, you can get given very important responsibilities!

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • It was extremely enjoyable, even through a pandemic you felt part of wider teams in your day job and as part of the intern cohort. The placement coordinators were a highlight, they involved the 16 interns in multiple opportunities outside of the finance job in team jobs and made the experience and culture. You are given responsibilities and also resources to grow, opportunities to explore more departments and responsibilities outside of your function.
