    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • On a daily basis I upload new starters onto our pension scheme, I schedule calls with graduates to see how they are finding their placements. I interact with colleagues from other functions or globally, I write and send letters and contracts. I am able to observe interviews and I am actively involved with new starters and the recruitment process for various roles at all different levels

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I have developed my Excel skills, I have improved the way I structure and conduct my emails, I have developed my time keeping skills by working to an efficient speed. My communication skills have improved also, I am more confident and feel like I present myself professionally.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes, very early on- it was great! When asked for more responsibility I was immediately given more work, it is very encouraging. I now, 4 months in, am creating my own workload and I am contacted directly for tasks to be completed or given queries to handle. Despite being a student still learning, IMI treat me with great respect and appreciate my skills and knowledge.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • Every day I am in contact with my supervisor. I have fortnightly calls with my line manager however I am able to call or email her whenever I need to. I feel comfortable seeking guidance or asking questions if I am unsure of anything and my superiors are more than happy to help. I feel heard and understood by my managers.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Fantastic. I feel comfortable to be my absolute most authentic self. The environment is professional, welcoming, inspiring, and friendly. It truly is a treat going into the office. The companies values are present within the working environment

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • Every day is something new, so I find this role very enjoyable. I am able to develop my knowledge in areas I have interest in. I really like the professional yet friendly atmosphere the office hosts, and I feel very comfortable and myself at work. I have really enjoyed my placement with IMI, the company values are very present and everyone is very supportive

  • When applying take your time, make sure you are in an environment you can focus so you can answer the questions to the best of your ability. Be yourself in the interview and when you get to work, enjoy it and ask as many questions as you need.
