    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • The first-year scheme took place over the Easter holidays and involved a variety of interactive sessions with the graduate recruitment team, trainees, associates and partners. Further, the programme was extended over several months, by offering additional presentations on applications, personal development and networking.

  • I extended my understanding of commercial law across the entire programme. I also improved my confidence through networking and collaborating with the other participants. Further, I developed my critical thinking skills by assessing deal scenarios while learning about current trends.

    Business Insight

  • 3. What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
  • The programme was a comprehensive insight into the work that Linklaters focuses on and the tasks that a trainee may expect. The sessions were also designed to address skills that are necessary for a lawyer in the City.

    Culture

  • 4. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The programme exposed us to people across the entire firm - from trainees to partners. It was encouraging to see that the senior employees took out the time to speak to us. The graduate recruitment team was friendly and always happy to answer questions. Equally, the employees seemed genuine and stressed that they would be happy to answer questions, even once the programme has finished.

  • 5. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I really enjoyed the scheme. I appreciate that the insight provided me with a variety of sessions, opportunities to network and meet other students. I believe that it was really beneficial to extend the programme across several months to provided students with more scope for growth and personal development by asking questions and participating in the events.

  • 8. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Linklaters
  • I would advise that students do extensive research on the firm, its work and culture. This is applicable to the entire application process. During the telephone interview, I would recommend reflecting on your experiences, how they have developed useful skills and in what way they may aid the firm.
