    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • My role was a Volunteer Mentor at a primary school in North Manchester. I worked with children who came from less advantaged backgrounds to provide academic and emotional support, through supporting in class and holding intervention groups and after school clubs. I acted as a role model for the children.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I have learnt so many skills - I wanted to develop my initiative and I have done exactly that. I can confidently say I work in a more professional manner, and I have more confidence in my extensive skillset. I feel more organised and self-motivated coming out of this placement year, and I'm much more confident in speaking publicly.
