    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I have/ am being given a great deal of responsibility during my placement. Several pieces of work that I have been involved in have been crucial in keeping our team compliant. Many of my tasks are monthly reporting topics, which need to be completed to enable correct forecasting of figures. I also produced a team wide process guide, detailing all the steps that we go through, from the acquisition of a lease/site/building, all the way through to the disposal of the site. This and other process guides that I have created for monthly tasks, have been passed on to new memebers and given them an inisght in to how we work.

Similarly the head of my placement team is always available to help. My line manager has also been excellent, helping with any queries but also being extremely supportive in any personal problems that I had. Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Siemens have a fantastic culture and atmosphere. There are always many different initiatives being started and many different opportunities to get involved. There is regular communication from the leadership teams which I think helps include all members in the business. There are often many diversity initiatives going on, including recently Pride week with various talks and meetings that we could attend. There are also many volunteering opportunities to help the local communities around our sites. We have monthly, in-person team meetings which improves the social side of the team, often ending with a after-work dinner.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I have/am thoroughly enjoying my internship. The work has been difficult but excellent to learn and will definitely help my progress in my career. The teams I am apart of have been great support networks for both social and work related topics, which has ensured that I settled in quickly and felt comfortable. I think the internship has so far exceeded my expectations, particularly with the amount of responsibility they have entrustsed in me. I would definitely go back and will be looking for a permanent role within Siemens in the near future.

  • 7. Would you recommend Siemens to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to Siemens
  • The interview process I would suggest coming up with some key terms to help you through the questions, there is no problem with taking notes to the interview. For the assessment centre, make sure you are as social as you can be, trying to connect with everyone there. We had to undertake a presentation and I would definitely recommend practising the presentation with whoever you can beforehand. Make sure your interview answers are well structured but relevant.
