    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

The scope of my role involved reviewing current environmental policies/procedures to identify issues and implement solutions, running an environmental campaign, reviewing/organising the business’ waste and energy data, publishing business-wide environmental communications and supporting on other projects where necessary.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes, I was very lucky with the projects I was given and also had a lot of say in the projects I undertook during the year. As my role was environmental I was able to work with many different teams across the business and set up meetings to understand how they could make their processes more sustainable. I had many different projects running at one given time which meant each day was very different and work certainly wasn't boring!

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • I have loved working for Siemens and believe that their growth and ownership culture has allowed me to develop over the year. As COVID-19 stopped a lot of the social events and volunteering days I did not participate in many of these activities. However, in a normal year there are lots of social events for interns apprentices and graduates and each employee has lots of opportunities to get involved in volunteering days each year.
