During the placement my day to day varied from having daily scrum engagements with the customer during a sprint, to developing a solution alongside my college. When a sprint wasn't ongoing I would be learning the cloud tools available to see if they could be used in future engagements.
One of the major skills I learnt during the placement was the ability to apply design thinking principles to ideate a solution with a customer, this gave a lot of value to the customers while making sure we identified the right pain point. I also learnt a whole suite of cloud tools.
I was given near autonomy to do whatever I felt best for the customer, giving my own advice on what I learnt and becoming a small consultant for them. Furthermore I was able to learn what I wanted and given support for that.
I was given a lot of guidance at the start however if I needed help with anything I had to reach out to people I didn't know.
Oracle is a growing tech company supporting a diverse workforce, supporting those who lie under the BAME, LGBTQA+, Neurodivergent and more banners. They have dedicated ERG's who make an impact within the company and customers.
I had an amazing internship and wished that I could've stayed on as I loved my job, my colleagues and the ability to expand my knowledge within Oracle. I wish I could've met my co-workers as lockdown was in effect most of the placement.
