    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • My role involves looking at and analysing data for different people to go ahead and use to make business decisions whilst trying to get more customers to sign up to what we offer. Daily I would update monthly and weekly reports to send out, whilst looking into ad hoc requests where I would use different data sources to find something which is useful for people.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I have developed skills such as my Excel skills and computer skills, whilst learning many new soft and hard skills. I have learned a lot more on Excel than I thought ever existed on it. Whilst also improving and developing self management, communication, organisation and prioritisation skills which will allow me to be a better well rounded individual for the future roles I may be in.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I was given a lot of responsibility during my internship. In my role I was given tasks to do which were going to SLT members, and the work I was doing was important for the company. I was treated as an actual employee and not just someone who is there for a year and that's it. Also given responsibilities in my role as an intern too which helped develop other skills.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • During the year I was given support from lots of different people throughout the whole time there. I had my manager and team who were great, a mentor who was amazing and a good support net when needed, and the intern panel as well, who were absolutely amazing. Luke Ebsworth deserves a special shoutout for being top class from the day I applied to Travelport to the day I left (and since then too!).

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The company culture and atmosphere was very good. The year was hindered largely by Covid and working from home, but they did the best to help keep me engaged until the office reopened. When the office reopened I loved being back there and everyone was great to speak to, and it helped to enhance my year there. Would be great to do time there without Covid affecting it at all.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I enjoyed it very much. Working from home was hard, but it helped me to develop skills that I probably wouldn't do if I hadn't have done that. However when we went back to the office, it was great and I was gutted to leave! I met some great people and worked with many great individuals who helped make my time there so good!

  • 7. Would you recommend Travelport to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to Travelport
  • I would say when applying, make sure you can stand out from the crowd, as to work at Travelport you need that 'wow' factor to fit the culture. When you go to the assessment centre, be yourself and be confident- speak to loads of people! If you work there, enjoy it and take every opportunity as you can do!!
