    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • My marketing intern role at CityFibre was fast pace, being given different tasks/projects to help within the team. I have given my own projects such as outlining and designing a social media campaign, research such as community groups, events and bloggers which will then be later used to sponsor/advertise with. I would be tasked with different admin roles such as ordering marketing material for the different departments. I was also given data inputting tasks to help raise any issues or missed sections or projects.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I study marketing at university and the knowledge I have gained from CityFibre is invaluable. its allowed me to see what is realistic and what isn't within the industry of marketing. New skills I have learnt are data imputing, a task I know I will use in nearly every job role.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I have given a lot of responsibility. I'd often be given tasks/projects for a week or so were I'd have to mange my own time. I'd had to book meetings with suppliers to discuss topics with the team. On a weekly basis I'd have to order marketing material for different departments which involved spending company money.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • My team and manager couldn't have been more helpful. My manager truly cared about my and the teams career, he'd give tasks that would benefit me in the long run and often chat to me about how to improve employability. The team would help with every question I had, I never once felt as through I couldn't ask for help.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Very up-beat, everyone is very friendly. People from different departments are more than happy to help when needed. The atmosphere is very much work hard as it can be high pace but in-between everyone working hard they do have a laugh and a joke, all in all very fun and nice place to work

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I couldn't have enjoyed it more. I learnt a lot more than I thought I would have. The team and all departments are super friendly, helpful and funny when they need to be! I looked forward to every day at work. Most of the work is remote using MS teams but I would go into my local office around once a week and we'd often have team meet ups in a further office. I really enjoyed my time at CiyFibre.

  • 7. Would you recommend CityFibre to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to CityFibre
  • Expect the fast pace environment, be ready for responsibility and don't be afraid to ask questions. I'd often have a lot of questions about different codes and abbreviations which without asking my manager/colleagues I would have been stuck, the team are super helpful and friendly therefore more than happy to answer questions.
