Overview
Worked in the Technology division and worked with Java Spring/PuTTY/Oracle SQL Developer to update and test different adapters. Worked with a migration team to facilitate the migration from a legacy system to an in-house application, and generated 20+ data reports. Continued to test+maintain+update these reports post-development. Worked in a group project using AI/ML techniques to model certain outcomes in different situations.
Skills
I have definitely improved on my technical skills of Java & Python, as well as learnt how to use Apache Freemarker CSV. Alongside this, I have also cultivated my soft skills of working within a team, working within an Agile framework and being able to communicate effectively and professionally with my colleagues.
Responsibilities
Yes, I was given executive responsibility for the creation of certain data reporting software, and worked on-call to fix any issues that may have arisen during the testing phase of such software. I was also part of a small team that worked on fixing tests as the framework was updated.
Support & Guidance
I got an enormous amount of support and guidance from my line manager, the wider team, my buddy/mentors, my recruiter and other individuals who conducted KT sessions, and who I was able to reach out to for further conversation and clarification. Truly an incredibly supportive environment, full of people who genuinely want to chat to you and help you along your way.
Culture
Very fantastic and forthcoming. Honest conversations were encouraged, as was asking for help and working toward collaborative solutions. Lots of social events to learn about the wider industry and to engage/network with senior members within Deutsche Bank.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed my internship, as the work was extremely rewarding and fulfilling, and the people I worked with were also incredible and very supportive. The company culture was wonderful and incredibly engaging, and I found it easy to reach out to people within the company to chat and discuss further.
Yes
Definitely be open-minded and try to ask as many questions as possible about the company! The interview/AC are relatively straightforward but do conduct your prep beforehand!
