    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • My role is a high-level presales role aimed at supporting presales staff by implementing strategies & programmes aimed at making their lives easier. My daily tasks involved answering emails, attending multiple Zoom calls, talking and finding out more about different people within the organisation and attending virtual charity events and completing online activities with everyone on my team.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • My biggest skill I've developed is my confidence, when I first started I wouldn't talk to anyone on the phone but as I got to the end of the placement I could call and talk to anyone without any issues. Other skills developed involve time management, organisational skills, research, problem solving and prioritisation.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • One of the biggest responsibilities I was given was to create a presentation presenting raw data into information that was easy to understand, this data was to be shown to a manager that reports directly to the CEO of Oracle so it had to be perfect. Other than that, I've spoken and presented in front of various managers managing hundreds of people across the UK and the rest of EMEA.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • Because of lockdown restrictions, it made the training more difficult than in the office but the sessions were made to be engaging with various activities, quizzes and opportunities to speak and learn from various employees within Oracle. I felt as though I could speak to anyone if I had any queries.

  • How would you rate the support and guidance from your line manager?

  • How would you rate the support and guidance from the wider team?

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • It was a weird experience at first because I'm used to an environment where I'm micromanaged during every shift. Suddenly moving to a workplace where I have more freedom was a great experience and I actually felt more productive. People I met in Zoom calls actually wanted to hear my opinions and took them into consideration which I thought wouldn't happen for an intern.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I enjoyed it a lot, I was given a lot of responsibility and felt as though the work I was doing was making a real difference to the organisation. The employees and other interns I was working alongside made me feel welcome and we had a lot of fun both during work and outside of work in the evenings or weekends.
