    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • One of the best parts of my role was how extremely varied it was and no two days were ever the same. The work varied from big project work to onboarding of new starters and general administrative tasks. Everyday I interacted with so many people across the company and it was a great way of networking internally. If you love being busy, then this role is definitely for you. The job is very varied in the daily duties you will complete.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I have learnt so many new skills over the last year and the placement year has allowed me to develop my confidence in presenting to a wide variety of people including the board of Directors and Head quarters. In addition my excel skills have greatly improved since starting. I have developed my commercial understanding of a financial services company as well as my communication and organisational skills.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I was given responsibility right from day one of my placement. I was involved in many big projects including the Great Place To Work Award, Sponsorship license project which was to ensure all our EU employees still had the right to work in the UK and the recruitment of our new interns. In addition to this I was able to do several presentations about my work to Head quarters, Board of Directors and also the whole company which was an amazing experience which has really helped me with my presentation confidence.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • My team were amazing and were always on hand if I ever needed any help or had a question. They would always check in to see how I was coping with my workload and if they could help in anyway. There was a great element of team spirit and support for projects that I took up. I had an induction with the previous intern for a week and several training sessions during my first week which were really helpful to allow me to settle into the role and understand what was expected of me.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The culture at RCI Bank UK is like no other I have experienced. Although I joined during the pandemic, I was still able to get an insight into what the company was like and was met by so many friendly and welcoming people. Even though a lot of my time was spent working from home there were several events that took place for example pizza vans at the office, virtual 12 days of Christmas and wellbeing boxes sent to all employees.

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I had the most incredible experience at RCI Bank UK with many unforgettable memories. I have learnt so many new skills and met an amazing group of people. The culture is an environment that I would love to work in through a future career. The role completely exceeded my expectations and was better than I could have ever wished for. I am extremely grateful to have received an offer to come back onto the graduate scheme which I have accepted and cannot wait for my return next year.

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to Mobilize Financial Services
  • Be yourself throughout the entire recruitment process! The assessment centre seemed very scary before hand however my nerves were eased right away with how welcoming and relaxed the atmosphere was. All employees were so welcoming and supportive. Be ready to learn and take on responsibility and cease every opportunity given to you even if it involves presenting to people and that makes you nervous, its a great way to improve your presentation confidence for future employment and going back to uni. The all round experience and skills you will gain from the year in industry are like no other with the wide variety of people you come into contact with at the company.
