A very structured 10 weeks internship consisting of training sessions on all asset classes in Global Data where you are presented with a run through of their day to day tasks as well as projects they work on. Of course you learn a lot about many many Terminal functions used by specific teams as well as across teams. You also work on your individual project where you are guided by you mentor and buddy and have to present you findings by the end of the internship. you also shadow with people on your team and possible perform a reverse shadowing so you consolidate your knowledge of the asset class and the team.
Yes, my soft skills have improved more than I expected them to due to the fact that I was in many situations where I had to start conversation with people and get their perspective narrow my research for my project. I also improved my excel skills and used excel API to filter data points and securities.
I would say working on the FFM was very interesting and gave a feel for how much responsibility one can carry at Bloomberg besides that I believe working on my project and the next steps for handover was also very useful to see how you work can transform to actionable steps.
I received plenty of support as everyone is always willing to help. My mentor was very hands on and guided me with all my concerns as well as the intern managers
Very positive and supportive throughout
It was very beneficial for my in my current career path to understand what I am good and what needs improving. I would say there are things I wish I did now that I look back for my project specifically but then again I wouldn't have know then what I know now. My project was very broad and I would say I spent a little too much time trying to understand the ask of it.
network early on and shadow different teams so you can get a better grasp of what makes different teams and asset classes differ and show your interest by connecting with the right people and shadowing them
