    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • As an Analytics and Sales Intern, I work across 2 client-oriented departments. In Analytics, we become experts of the terminal and asset classes, and provide 24/7 support for Bloomberg users all over the world and across multiple industries. In Sales, we develop strong relationships with our clients to understand their workflow and suggest solutions and products. Both roles involve a lot of calling and speaking to clients.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • This internship has been the best experience for me to develop my communication and client-facing skills. I am more confident when speaking to clients and I have been told by my managers that my presentation skills have improved. Also I have gained better industry knowledge, and my collaboration skills too have gotten much better.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • From the 1st week, we were given the opportunity to speak to important clients and pitch them products/functions. I undertook many projects/research for internal use, and presented to senior people at Bloomberg.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • The guidance and support was unmatched. My Sales and Analytics managers and mentors as well as HR have been so supportive throughout the entire internship. They regularly checked in to see how I was doing, gave me consistent feedback, and offered projects for me to challenge myself.

  • The culture is very collaborative, friendly and supportive. You are surrounded by open, enthusiastic and intelligent people who you can reach out to any time to have a chat.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • This internship has been a 10/10 experience. I have learned so much about Bloomberg but also the financial industry in general, and have been able to speak to the most enthusiastic and intelligent people (both Bloomberg employees and clients). I cannot recommend this programme enough.

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to Bloomberg
  • You have to be a collaborative, open, and hard-working person. Do not be scared to reach out to people across Bloomberg, as people here are so knowledgeable and intelligent. Networking and knowing the other departments is as important, too. The internship is a great opportunity to explore other areas of Bloomberg and develop your general financial knowledge.
