Inspecting, site viewing and analysis of acquisitions and disposal office units in the City Core of London. I learnt about the difference between CAT A and CAT B refurbished and fitted office space. I was given the task fo creating "Heads of terms" "interest schedules" and had the opportunity to call and speak with agents within other firms outside of Savills to chase information regarding building specifications and occupier background.
I previously was on a summer internship with Montagu Evans city agency department London. I have had a brilliant unique opportunity to view the different methods and day to day operations of Savills and have learnt a lot about why Savills stands apart from similar firms in the market. I have developed skills in areas such as communicating across departments and working as a team to achieve an objective. As Savills is such a large company it has been brilliant seeing how with its flat line management structure tasks can be more easily and accurately achieved.
I was lucky enough to have shadowed three directors, attending site viewings, meeting clients, sitting in on investment and management meetings. It truly was a brilliant experience to have been able to ask questions and work closely with two senior experienced figures within Savills. My team has been excellent in assigning me tasks related across the process of commercial office agency from finding potential occupiers and creating interest schedules right the way through to helping draw up Heads of terms for lease agreements. I have communicated outside of office agency, meeting in investment and giving me a greater insight into Savills as a company and not just Office agency. I have a stronger understanding of Savills as a company leaving my internship and my experience has only confirmed my expectations and commitment to applying for the full time graduate position in September.
From the first day I was introduced to the entire department and was made to feel welcome. I was given a task from director for the entire two week period which gave me the opportunity to ask questions and speak to the different departments within the Finsbury Circus office to collect information for the task. I felt very comfortable asking questions and was offered help at ever stage of my internship. They have been fantastic in offering me not just insight but also application help, APC advice and just giving a good insight into their roles within Savills. I have been offered contacts and support after the internship has finished. They have been brilliant in sorting me out with additional contacts in departments away from the Finsbury Circus office and has done a terrific job in providing support. Overall I could not have asked for anymore the experience has been brilliant.
Progressive. A really good range of age groups and different backgrounds. Myself being from Manchester i was nervous visiting London but upon arrival and after meeting the office and team I felt very comfortable and at home. The flat line management structure is a big focus point for me. Having directors and graduates sit on the same desk is brilliant for personal development and creates a really productive and supportive atmosphere. The HR team has been very accommodating and given a friendly supportive approach to the internship and as an intern I have felt very much able to be myself in the office.
Living and working in London has been a real eye opener for me and from meeting the office agency team and the various other people at Savills I have felt confident and motivated during the summer internship. Unfortunately due to COVID the social activities have been limited but despite this set back the experience has been great and I have still had many opportunities to visit sites and meet clients. As I have said in the questions above the internship has successfully ticked all the boxes I was looking for within a company and i have really enjoyed and appreciated the opportunity to attend the summer internship scheme
Yes
Just be yourself. Savills is a company that has many departments suited to many different types of personalities and backgrounds and so the best advice I can give is do not try and fit a "generic" applicant model just be yourself be honest and express your interest and enthusiasm in property and you will be allocate a position that best works for you. I enjoyed my interview it was very open and honest and I was given the opportunity to ask questions and was given some really good feedback and insight. Brilliant company and brilliant people. I look forward to applying in September
