The event gave us an overview of Baker McKenzie as a whole, looking into the practice areas found at the firm, as well as inclusion and diversity. We networked with trainees, associates, and partners, who gladly answered any questions we had about the firm. This provided us with skills and tips for applying for a vacation scheme at the firm.
Through this event, I developed my interviewing skills as the firm provided an example for how to answer questions when doing video interviews and further advice on how to build our confidence and speaking skills.
The event mainly consisted of networking, so I enjoyed talking to people from various practice areas and got a better understanding of what their job is like and how it differs from other practice areas. The graduate recruitment gave a presentation on the global reach of the firm, how they stand out, their departments, and their culture. I gained a good understanding of what it would be like as a trainee at the firm.
The graduate recruitment team and the other members of the firm were very welcoming and made sure no question was left unanswered. The inclusion and diversity presentation proved that the culture of the firm is evolving and improving year by year as they are actively doing what they can to diversify the firm.
I really enjoyed this insight day as I got to meet lots of people who were friendly and ready to answer any questions I had. I gained a lot of knowledge and advice from this event so I am grateful to have been to this event.
