    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

    • I was responsible for migrating company data from a legacy system to an updated system. Day-to-day I would interact with my immediate team as well as software engineers to execute a bespoke migration tool in order to transfer data securely.

    • I have learnt how to build meaningful relationships with my colleagues in an online space. The entirety of my internship was done working from home so I had to adapt to this new style of working. I also had to present internally and externally which built on my public speaking skills.

    • I was given the responsibility to be solely responsible for migrating entire projects. This allowed me to improve on my individual workflow and gain efficiencies to complete migrations quickly.

    • My line manager provided a lot of support throughout my internship. We had daily sync meetings which ensured I had a direction and clear set of tasks.

    • As I was working from home, there was very little experience in this area.

    • I enjoyed the aspects of my internship thorooughly. Especially working directly with software developers as I study computer science and I wish to take on a role similar to that in the future.
