I was responsible for migrating company data from a legacy system to an updated system. Day-to-day I would interact with my immediate team as well as software engineers to execute a bespoke migration tool in order to transfer data securely.
I have learnt how to build meaningful relationships with my colleagues in an online space. The entirety of my internship was done working from home so I had to adapt to this new style of working. I also had to present internally and externally which built on my public speaking skills.
I was given the responsibility to be solely responsible for migrating entire projects. This allowed me to improve on my individual workflow and gain efficiencies to complete migrations quickly.
My line manager provided a lot of support throughout my internship. We had daily sync meetings which ensured I had a direction and clear set of tasks.
As I was working from home, there was very little experience in this area.
I enjoyed the aspects of my internship thorooughly. Especially working directly with software developers as I study computer science and I wish to take on a role similar to that in the future.
