    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • Observing/shadowing current Graduate Surveyors and assisting them with their work, helping to write reports and other typical tasks. Attending team meetings. Video calls with current Savills employees to give an insight into their area of the business. Networking sessions (remotely) with current graduates and directors. Attended a site visit. Very sociable/welcoming.

  • Gained understanding of the valuation process, identifying appropriate comparables. Gained further insight into development, including appraisals . Improved report writing skills.

    Business Insight

  • 3. What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
  • Really interesting, confirmed that my areas of interest within Surveying would suit me but has also given me new roles to consider. Departmental overviews were interesting and the speakers were informative and engaging. Lots of helpful informal conversations with people around the office who were keen to give advice/ask about my current aims.

    Culture

  • 4. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Very welcoming and friendly. People were down to earth and fun but ultimately passionate about their work, strong professional ethic and a genuine interest in helping out people new to the world of surveying. Felt very included by the current graduates, going out for lunch etc.

  • Really enjoyable and would have loved to stay for longer than the two weeks. Very impressed by culture at Savills.

  • 8. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Savills
  • Know the company and what makes them different to their competitors. A strong cover letter is vital and should be clear on why you want to work in property, but specifically why you have picked the area/scheme you wish to join, and why Savills. The Savills Insights podcast was useful.
