Overview
There were 4 days of training followed by 5 weeks split across two projects. For the projects, I joined engagement teams working on client projects. My role involved assisting with creating slide decks and spreadsheets, running morning team huddles and presenting some of my work within the team. I also attended client meetings to shadow and sometimes take notes.
Skills
I have developed my confidence in communicating, both verbally and via written means. I have also improved my skills in google suite, increasing my speed in slides and proficiency in sheets. I also had a brief insight into PowerBI and Tableau, both of which were new software for me.
Responsibilities
There we some tasks which I had autonomy over and felt personally responsible for, however they tended to be smaller tasks than I felt capable of. I was given the responsibility of hosting a couple of huddles, which was welcomed.
Support & Guidance
The support provided from more senior colleagues was excellent. We received 4 days of training at the beginning which helped, and then when on projects the team were helpful in answering questions and having calls to explain tasks where necessary.
Culture
Generally very good. The placement was mainly virtual, but people were very responsive to messages and the team huddles were very friendly making for a good working culture. When I was in the office people there were very friendly.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed it overall. It provided me with the insight into Management Consulting and PwC that I was looking for. The one thing that would have made it more enjoyable would be affording interns more opportunity to take on more interesting and important tasks.
Yes
Go for it! Definitely worth an application, especially is a good culture and reasonable work life balance is important to you.
