    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • My role is supporting the account manager and other workers in the office with the day to day activities of the bank, such as account management, file organisation, contacting and meeting customers, customer due diligence and reporting. On top of this, we are given a group project to work on for the end of the internship and research projects regarding bank operations every fortnight.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I have become more financially literate with terminology and processes, developing analytical skills throughout my learning. We have been trained on the bank's systems and also for things such as fraud, sustainability, customer service and property. The group project has enhanced my team working skills and my organisational skills have also improved. I have become more professional in my work and presentation too.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • We are given full responsibility with tasks and with internship projects, however everything we do is double checked by someone else in the bank to ensure no costly mistakes are made which is good because we receive feedback on our work. All in bank tasks are meaningful with real life implications, and there is plenty of business exposure.

  • Please rate how meaningful the work you were doing was

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I received good levels of support from the banking staff without compromising on my independence. There is always an option to contact other members of staff around the country to ask for help and advice, it is easy to do so too.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The culture was really good. Sustainability is highly regarded and most of what we did somewhat concerned sustainability. The staff are really friendly - as customer service is of utmost importance - so the atmosphere in the office is always very positive. The bank are really involved within the local community.

  • I really enjoyed working as a part of my office team. I always felt comfortable asking questions and staff always offered to tell me more about what they're doing. The tasks were very interesting as there is always new things to do as well as being proactive. The knowledge I have gained will be really useful in the future.
