    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • No two days are ever the same. We support the channels to deliver their projects and there are multiple projects at once so you need to be able to priorities your time. You may also be working on delivering a workshop to line managers or supporting an absence or performance case. The role is extremely varied

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I absolutely have learnt so much! The core skills that I have built on are: -how to be an effective communicator. -how to really priorities your time to deliver tasks -how to reflect on the importance of a message you are trying to deliver so that your work is straight to the point and not long winded -adaptability -most importantly, ive learned how to think more inclusively.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • From day one I was given way more responsibility than what I imaged I believe an intern would be given. I was given tasks and was allowed to completely run with it and make it my own. This included work from Tescos whole return to office strategy to creating alternative offices around WGC for colleagues to work from. I always had my teams support for my ideas

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I did not have my hand held but my team were constantly reassuring me that If i needed help they would be there. Where I needed guidance the advice was always brilliant. I had the best team, sometimes as well the guidance and support came from sources that you wouldnt expect, for instance when you are listening to a presentation and you pick something up that you can really relate to the work you are doing.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • To keep it short and to the point, before I started my internship, I had no idea what I wanted to do or where I wanted to be. Within 5 weeks, I now have so much clarity on this. Tesco is a brilliant place to work and get on and I want that in my future

  • 7. Would you recommend Tesco plc to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to Tesco plc
  • be curious, ask questions and do not be afraid to stick time in with the wider Tesco workforce if you are interested in what they do. Tesco colleagues are great for taking the time with you to discuss what they do and give advice and tips. Also if you have an idea, but you are in the mindset of 'I am just an intern so I will keep this to myself'-dont. They love to hear your thoughts and love the new perspective that you can bring
