    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • During my time with my team, I was involved in several M&A projects. I was responsible for conducting market research for an upcoming client pitch and then condensed my research for the pitch itself. I also took on a project management role where I helped team members manage communications and meetings for due diligence for an upcoming acquisition. I was responsible for overseasing email communication and keeping documents up to date with relevant information

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • i have learnt alot of technical skills about the M&A industry. Previously, I was unsure about specific jargon and how deals were conducted, but throughout my time i learnt so much about the industry which was useful through various courses and communcation with my team. I also developed my professional skills, particuarly my professional communication skills, since I was responsible for some work that would be presented to clients as well as keeping on top of communications

  • I obtained my internship through a first year scheme, so I reccommend any first year student considering to go into professional services to apply to first year schemes as it will provide you with a great start. Research your industry and role well; as there are so many roles available to you, be clear on what is it that you enjoy e.g tax, audit, deals etc and see how KPMG remain competitive within that area
