  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • My role as a BDR means I am responsible for the very beginning of the sales cycle. This involves networking and prospecting key stakeholders within our target market with the aim of generating quality meetings which will ultimately result in pipeline and genuine revenue for the business.

  • The skills I have gained and built on this year is immeasurable. My ability to pitch complex topics to professional IT leaders is a key skill I have gained this year. In terms of soft skills, I have been able to build on my presentation and networking abilities significantly.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • The BDR placement role at Egress gives you full responsibility. From your first day you will treated exactly the same as the rest of the team. This means you will have the same targets post your ramping period, and most importantly for me... the same commission structure.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • Throughout the placement you will have weekly 121's with the head of the BDR team who will support and mentor you throughout the year. In addition to this, the entire sales team are incredibly welcoming and helpful, and will aid you with your personal goals.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • I believe Egress is most known for its culture. I feel incredibly lucky to have experienced my first professional job at a company where everybody wants you to succeed. The social aspect of the role is also brilliant with weekly drinks, lunches and social events.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I greatly enjoyed my placement, even working remotely for the first 9 months. I am passionate about sales and this role provided me with a fantastic foundation for my future career in software sales. I greatly look forward to returning to the company in an Account Executive role post my final year of university.

  • My best advice would be to throw yourself straight into the deep and step outside what you deem comfortable. This will boost your learning potential and your success in the role will have no limits.
