    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • We spent our time learning about KPMG as a whole and then focusing on smaller sections within the Technology sector. We heard from recent graduates and other heads of departments to give a range of insights. Our final day was an interview for a Vacation position.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I definitely developed my teamwork and my confidence through speaking in front of so many people on the call, and I also learnt new ways to be polite but still noticed in a call with 30+ other people.

    Business Insight

  • 3. What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
  • Hearing about all of the different roles available made it very interesting and also opened my eyes to how many opportunities there are within the Technology field. I didn’t think it would be for me but after hearing from those within those fields I found I was interested in more than one sector mentioned, which I found exciting. Hearing from recent graduates made it easy to see the progression through the company and ease worries about what it’s like starting in such a big company.

    Culture

  • 4. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The company seemed very open and welcoming, with an emphasis on what you can learn while there rather than what you already know. I found it interesting that they have so many opportunities to give back to the community especially with ITs Her Future, and I thought that that everyone there, no matter what level they are within the company, was extremely friendly and happy to help.

  • 8. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to KPMG
  • I would recommend doing your research about KPMG as a whole as well as the specific area you’re applying to, but most importantly make use of any chance to ask questions and network e.g. with LinkedIn as they really love to see someone taking the initiative and going that one step further to show they’re really interested.
