    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • We were assigned two departments each. Every day we would meet with our supervisors and discuss the tasks we had been allocated. The firm allowed us access to their systems, so we were aiding on real cases. There were also firm wide talks and networking sessions set up. Examples of tasks include meeting notes, report writing, research tasks and writing memos on cases.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt so many new skills. We were advised on how to write in the firm style and how to be concise in our tasks. I developed my networking skills, how to meet new people, and we were encouraged to fully engage with everyone in the firm. I have learnt about the work done by Clyde as well as the practical points of litigation.

    Culture

  • 4. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The atmosphere was very friendly and welcoming. Everyone was very busy with their own tasks, but they were willing to answer any questions or help if you asked for it. All of the staff from partners to building maintenance staff welcomed us to the firm and were very approachable. The firm organised a cocktail making social and a painting social which were fun breaks from work. As summer students we felt very valued.
