    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I co-led a bill of material project after two weeks of training, where I was given free reign to improve and streamline this process. I'm leading a product resolution project with supervision which started two months into the placement, which fully exposed me to the full 7 step process and has been responsible for a large portion of my development. I am also responsible for numerous change packages

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • Considering the pandemic meant I've worked from home for nearly all of the placement, I received great support from Cummins. My team has been friendly and approachable, making it easy to get guidance on how to solve issues with my work. I've also been assigned a mentor as another outlet to discuss issues.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Unfortunately, I haven't been able to experience office life due to the pandemic. However, all the colleagues I've spoken to have been friendly on Zoom and in emails. A few virtual site wide events have been run which were good ways to interact with new people. Cummins' volunteering program (EEEC) was still run this year with a real emphasis on giving back to the local community.

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to Cummins
  • Research the company thoroughly- their values, mission, vision for the future. Try to give different scenarios when answering interview questions (not necessarily just projects you've done at university). If you have to do a presentation during the assessment centre, be confident in what you are talking about and if possible think about any links to Cummins.
