Starts off in store for 6 months then you move to Regional Head Office to carry out project work as well as following your mentor around on their day to day activities
Having previously worked in supermarkets it was great that I had standard knowledge, however Aldi have helped me develop these skills as well as learn how to become a successful manager and communicator across the business
There was more responsibility assigned to me than I could ever have imagined. From running a store on my own at the age of 20 to carrying out a project on an area of significant loss on my own to help save the business some loss, this was way more than I ever thought I’d get!
In each department or role you went into you’d have different mentors, all of which had different ways of doing their jobs and giving guidance which was great as you can see insight into others minds and take away what is good and what maybe isn’t. I was fortunate in store that I understood the basics from a previous job, therefore never needed ‘babying’ as you like
The culture was very different compared to my previous supermarket I worked in. The culture was very family like and everyone knows everyone. If you need anything from Head Office when you’re in store, you’ll know exactly who to ask for and if a director comes into store or you pass them in HO, they always have a chat, which is unheard of in many companies!
I have absolutely loved my placement with Aldi and think that anyone who is hard working and wants to excel in being a successful manager in more than one area or to develop their skills across the board should seriously consider Aldi
Yes
Expect hard work and long hours. It is not easy at all and this is made clear by everyone you meet from Day 1. As long as you work hard, earn the respect of others then you will succeed.
