    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Engineering Intern at Manchester site that supports Medium and Heavy-Duty Transmission development. Key role is to process and analyse testing data from test facilities at Tczew and Galesburg through efficient communication with test engineers and support various forms of analysis tasks alongside general project support. Solid Modelling and Engineering Drawing Analysis also form a part of the role depending on the project requirement. Running MATLAB Simulink models and VDriver checks to run safety requirement check for troubleshooting transmission, form a part of the controls related tasks. Writing scripts in data mining software called imc FAMOS to parse key parameters from test data files, using Eaton Data Interpreter for analysing data and excel for graphical representation of test results are the core daily tasks. Deeper understanding of Eaton’s 12spd and 18spd AMT transmission was a key take away from the year in industry.

  • Worked in a small group of 5 so i was very much involved in projects with my supervisor. My test data analysis were used to link with design analysis. Some of my contributions have been reviewed by senior engineers who provided a good deal of interests and questions. Have also been efficiently communicating with test engineers in the testing facilities at Galesburg and Tczew to aid with test data analysis. After the training period, i have been working under less supervision and have independently contributed to the team.
