    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • I was responsible for coordinating the deployment of our products to customers after purchasing. I completed 32 customer-based projects and coordinated around 3 internal projects. I was also part of the QMS team, we conducted internal audits and attended external audits, to remain certified with ISO 9001. Daily tasks included chairing customer kick-off calls, emailing out actions, answering customer queries.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I have learnt project management skills relevant to software technology such as technical knowledge that has given me a basis if I chose a similar job in the future. My communication skill has developed greatly due to chairing my own meetings on a weekly basis. My team working skill has adapted to being able to effectively work in a team online I have learnt to work more independently whilst working from home.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes I was given a lot of responsibility during my placement, a lot more than I expected which really impressed me and made me really feel like part of the team. I was given around 35 projects that were mine to coordinate, and was given multiple internal projects. At Egress, you aren't treated like a placement student, and after a few weeks everyone forgets you are one!

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I had weekly one to one's with my line manager, along with twice-weekly catch-ups with my CSC team. We also had a customer success team meeting once a week too, in order for the team to offer any advice on tricky deployments. Everyone I worked with was always ready to help with anything I needed

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Egress is a very social company, and during my placement which was completely remote in the end, there were company drinks calls every Friday afternoon, quizzes and fundraisers. There were multiple teams channels to talk to people and HR checked in on us once a week

  • I really enjoyed my placement. Egress put a lot of effort into making my placement even better than it could have been in person. There are so many opportunities for growth and learning

  • Make sure you prepare for the assessment centre but try to have fun! Be open to all opportunities presented to you so you can try and learn as much as possible
