Overview
Sitting with one department, you are set a variety of tasks by your supervisor (an associate) and buddy (a junior lawyer/trainee) at the firm. The day starts at 9:30 and ends at 5:30. I found that I worked past this time. We were set presentations, due diligence and research tasks. A highlight was being able to contribute to real clients work. In some departments, there was the option to attend court and listen to client meetings.
Skills
I developed my writing and research abilities. There were lots of opportunities to network with different departments and plenty of time to discuss the firm's work and your interests.
Business Insight
We had a session on understanding the firm from a finance perspective which really helped break down how partners bring in business and guide business decisions.
Culture
Extremely welcoming and friendly. Both associates and trainees were very generous with their time and booked virtual coffees. The firm really stood out because of these qualities. I really appreciated the calm and collaborative atmosphere which Graduate Recruitment helped created.
Your Impressions
There was a good balance between work, social activity and teamwork on each day. The socials were very thoughtful and appreciated by everyone. It definitely helped create a sense of cohesiveness.
Yes
Clyde & Co is an insurance and sector-focused firm. This distinguishes the firm from the other large firms, so I would recommend thinking about why these sectors are important to your career and interest you.
