We would spend time in our departments completing live work for trainees and associates. During the week we had a coffee with a partner and were able to observe client calls and arrange catch ups with other members of the firm. There were also a number of sessions around responsible business, introductions to areas of law and Q&A sessions with trainees to learn more about the training contract process.
I have learnt about time management in a virtual context and furthered my ability to pay attention to detail when reviewing contracts.
The week was very comprehensive and gave me a really good insight into the unique experience of a commercial lawyer training in a regional setting.
The culture was open and collegiate. We were encouraged to ask questions and were able to request support when needed.
I really enjoyed it as I was able to fully immerse myself in learning more about the firm despite doing so virtually.
Be yourself and think about what makes you stand out from the other candidates. Also, get familiar with the competencies the firm looks for, namely commercial thinking, analytical skills, collegiality and resilience. Think about past examples of where you have demonstrated these qualities.
