    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • The Sales Operations team is the pivotal role between the Sales department and the wider business. The team continuously drives the sales system and improves processes, the quality of the data, and creates reports for Senior Management. You will be proactively monitoring data quality, which is used to make strategic and operational business decisions. Day-to-day activity mainly involves work on Salesforce.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • Since beginning placement, I have been able to develop competencies in critical analysis and thinking whilst also developing confidence in CRM. Professional competencies are something I feel much more confident in now as well, including: Negotiation, Networking etc.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes, from day one I was given my training that would help me in my first projects beginning the following week. My first project concerned the CFO and Senior VP of Global Sales in an effort to launch Egress into some new verticals in the US. Throughout my year there has been many occasions where I have been trusted to implement new processes and make suggestions on existing practice.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • Due to the small/medium organisational structure of Egress, I had direct contact with most individuals in the company and could go to anyone for help with my projects. Weekly catch-up calls with my line manager also offered a great opportunity to ask questions and identify areas that I need to work on.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Despite working from home this year, the company culture and general atmosphere is something that definitely surprised me. It seemed that even though people were not in the office, there was still a buzz on Teams channels where people would crack jokes and catch-up as if it was across the desk chat. Virtual socials also kept the exciting company culture going.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I feel unfortunate that I did not experience placement in the office for the majority of the year as it was a dominating factor in my decision to undertake a placement in London. However, the skills I gained and competencies developed outweighs missing out on office life.
