    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I have benefitted immensely by developing my commercial awareness, mathematical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills alongside teamwork, time management and creativity. My role involved both independent and team working, and time management was a very important skill as I had to prioritize and schedule events and tasks efficiently. I also worked on my adaptability as the entire internship was virtual, which meant I had to adapt to the working from home methods and be self-motivated. My team and the company always supported me throughout the year, which helped me build my skills and made my experience exceptional.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I believe I was given just enough responsibility during my placement year. Given that I am an intern and this was my first experience in the industry, a mistake from my end could have meant problems for the wider business. Hence, my manager made sure to give me enough responsibility so that I am able to learn, be accountable for my work and at the same time, be confident in what I'm doing. If I was working on a crucial task, I made sure to get my work reviewed before sending it off to stakeholders.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I received a lot of support and guidance from my team, stakeholders and the wider company. I was always reassured that I can come to discuss successes and problems with my team, which helped me gain confidence and improve on my work. I was never left unanswered or ignored. I was made to feel as a part of the team and was given an equal status of a full time employee, which was really great

  • The company culture is wonderful. Everyone is very welcoming and makes you feel a part of the time. They are always available for a chat if you feel confused or want to have more information. The atmosphere is very friendly as everyone is very nice and talks politely. The ways of communication, whether it be emails, calls or messages on Teams, are always kind. • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I enjoyed my placement 100%. It was an amazing experience and I couldn't have asked for anything more. I have learned a lot, made so many connections, developed my skills and knowledge, and made a great head-start on my career. If given a chance, I would love to come back to work at Disney. The opportunities, people and culture is wonderful and there is a place to grow here. I would also recommend doing a placement at Disney to other students.

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to The Walt Disney Company
  • I would say the most important thing is to be yourself. Disney is a diverse, inclusive company who welcomes every one. When applying for a position, remember to highlight what you can bring to the team and how you're different. Talk about your hobbies and interests as much as you talk about your academics and employment experiences. Once you get the job, I would suggest having an open mind and learning as much as you can!
