    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Throughout my job at L'Oreal I have been responsible for both B2B and B2C channels in terms of marketing. My main focus has been on E-Commerce, due to this huge acceleration triggered by the current COVID-19 pandemic. Another main responsibility includes trade marketing. Due to my brand's renovation this March, I have been responsible for redesigning 70+ stores so that they align with and fit with the new look and feel of the brand.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • Throughout my placement year, I have been offered many opportunities to develop my skills. L'Oreal have two platforms which allow employees to improve market knowledge as well as general day-to-day skills. Through my job specifically, my communication skills have been built upon as well as other fundamental skills such as time management. At L'Oreal, you are given a lot of responsibility, even as an intern, which has allowed my creative skills to flourish.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • During my time at L'Oreal I was given a lot more responsibility than expected as an intern. My team were eager to hear and take on board my thoughts and ideas as it is always useful to use a fresh pair of eyes they said. Additionally, due to a few gaps in my team, I had the opportunity to step up and fill the role of the trade marketing lead.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • Due to much of my internship being predominantly remote, my brand and the HR team have been extremely supportive. The onboarding process was thorough and well thought out which allowed me to become comfortable in my role very quickly despite the circumstances.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The company culture at L'Oreal is fantastic to say the least! Everyone is super upbeat and social, even despite most of my time being remote. Additionally, HR are extremely supportive whether that be work-related or personal issues, they are very proactive on making sure your voice is heard and asserting you that you are not alone.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • My placement at L'Oreal has been extremely rewarding! At times it has been tough, but I have gained so many skills and friendships within and outside of my team which I believe will stick. The experience I have gained is indispensable and I believe that this will set me up for any future career goals that I wish to pursue whether that be within or external of L'Oreal.

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to L'Oreal
  • The main tip I would give to others when applying to L'Oreal is to be yourself during the application process. Not only should you be the right fit as a candidate for L'Oreal, but more importantly the company must be the right fit for you! Additionally, make sure you thoroughly research the companies morals, background and latest innovations as knowledge is key within the application process.
