    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I had a few opportunities to be the main person responsible for the ongoing projects. I was trusted with the task to invoice our customers even though I had to learn that from the scratch. I had an opportunity to have a training session with different people across the company. I had several projects with different business units. I had around 6 projects throughout the year that involved a lot of work and responsibilities.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I was working in a great team. I felt like I always had their support, there was no question that I could not ask. I never felt judged and even when I made some mistakes I had uplifting feedback. I had some support at the beginning but I also had some independence so I could learn some skills for myself without the constant guidance.

I can see that a huge amount of people working for Cummins stay there for a long time, and there are so many anniversaries of working there that you can really see that it feels sometimes like a big family.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I gained a lot from this placement. It changed the way I'm thinking about my future development hugely. I learned that even when you know all the skills and you know what to do it's mainly about the interactions with others. I'm sad I couldn't work in the office with the whole team. A big part of my placement was remote. It showed me how work can look like in difficult situations which I'm really grateful for, but I wish the world situation could have been better during my placement. If it comes to soft skills it exceeded my expectations definitely. I didn't develop that much with the IT side of things but I'm actually glad as that's not the main field I am aiming for.

  • I would definitely recommend to them reading about company values. It really allows to understand Cummins better and your employee will definitely see your knowledge as an advantage. As a big company, they really care about their mission and values. Don't worry if the title of the job might not suit you 100%, they are quite flexible and they will definitely help you find yourself as well.
