  • I have learnt and developed an array of new skills, with the most pertinent being as follows: - Proactivity in anticipating issues before they arise and over-communicating with key stakeholders to avoid mis-alignment - Technical skills required for efficient use of supply planning software (SAP, ECC, APO) - Development of soft skills - communication with stakeholders, presenting statistics, working within a team, persuasion Alongside the above are the skills required to adapt to remote working.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Being in a full time Supply-planning role granted me a lot of responsibility. Being the person responsible for the stock planning for two large brands results in many stakeholders relying on your information, communication and general work in order to best serve demand. At first the level of responsibility proved a real challenge, having never faced such and experience before. However, upon reflection, this served a great opportunity to develop my skills in every area.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I received great support throughout my placement, from the day I started up to current day. The culture at Loreal is very supportive, and thus fosters development by allowing people to learn from mistake via the resources and guidance around them. The guidance didnt just come from direct contacts in my team and line manager, but also via the online opportunities and constant learning pathways.

  • How would you rate the support and guidance from your line manager?
  • 5/5

  • How would you rate the support and guidance from the wider team?
  • 5/5

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • As mentioned, the Loreal culture is extremely inclusive and as a result brings out the best in people. Being within the ACD division takes this further, as it is the smallest division, often described to be a 'family'. While this benefits all employees, it proves particularly beneficial to placement students looking to gain their first exposure to employment due to the inclusive, selfless culture present throughout Loreal.

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to L'Oreal
  • In terms of the actual application, I would suggest applying early, as it appeared that slots were filled as they went along (not after considering all applicants). In terms of during the placement, I would say get involved, network, and ultimately work hard, as this is what will help you get the most out of the year.
