    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Projects that aim to reduce costs and maximize revenue from the business. Monitoring sales figures and analyzing data to highlight potential risks or opportunities for the business. Creating decks and reports for exec level stakeholders which are used in external meetings with large multinational corporations. Interactions with both sales and finance.

  • Developed my professional skills, project management skills, time management and many other soft skills, as well as hard skills such as SQL, Excel with VBA, PowerBI, Salesforce.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes. I would class myself as an integral part of the team that adds value to the business. I have completed lots of meaningful work and been exposed to senior stakeholders and been part of business critical projects. There has been a large amount of autonomy and I have been able to use my own initiative to create work and projects that add value to the business.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • My line manager and my wider team have been brilliant at providing me with support and guidance. I shadowed senior analysts and had regular catch ups with my line manager so I could continue my development. I was provided with the right balance of guidance but also allowed to use my own initiative when applicable.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Really good considering COVID. Now we are coming out of lockdown and restrictions are easing there has been lots of stuff going on. Casually, just drinks after work etc. Then also more events that I have helped organize in my spare time. The average age is very low, and the performance of the staff is high which adds a buzz to the workplace and makes its dynamic and fun. A strong golf loving community!

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I have really enjoyed my placement at FDM. It has been really eye-opening to the ways businesses operates. The nature of my role also allowed me to gain insight from many perspectives, including the clients. It has definitely given me good industry knowledge and allowed me to develop skills which I can see are valued in the workplace and society. I would definitely go back for a Grad job if offered!

  • Yes


  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to FDM Group
  • Be yourself! Individuality is really valued at FDM. If you make it through to the Assessment Centre give truthful answers and not 'what you think the interviewer wants to hear.' They are casual interviews and you shouldn't be stressed that you're going to be overly interrogated.
