    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • I work in a cross functional team to provide regulatory support on projects. My role involves liasing with local teams in different markets and different manufacturing site to devise a regulatory strategy. I also author and review regulatory documents then compile these documents into a regulatory dossier, which get submitted to health authorities. My role also involves using regulatory systems to track and archive information.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I have developed skills such as communication skills whilst working in a cross- functional team and attending frequent meetings. My time management and organizational abilities has also improved to meet the tight regulatory deadlines. I have also improved my skills using Microsoft Office such as Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Excel. From doing regular presentations, I have also improved my confidence in presenting work to the team.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes I was surprised how much responsibility I was given throughout my placement. At the beginning, I received very good training and handover from the previous placement student so I felt very comfortable taking on responsibilities once my training had finished. Throughout the year, my team would trust me with bigger pieces of work and I had the chance to lead a few projects of my own.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I received a lot of support and guidance. My team always explained exactly what my tasks were and would explain anything new. If I got stuck, everyone was always happy to help, answer questions and provide support. Even outside my team, other colleagues were always there to give guidance and advice. There was a lot of opportunity to find a mentor of which I had two who were very helpful.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The general atmosphere was very friendly and welcoming. Everyone really loved working here and you could tell. There was regular events held and many initiatives to feel part of the community. Many events and initiatives to promote diversity too. Charity events happen very frequently too and are always a fun way to raise money for charity.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I enjoyed my placement. I really enjoyed my work so I am now pursuing it as a career after graduation. I really liked my team and everyone else was very friendly. The company culture and atmosphere is great. My placement year exceeded my expectations and I would love to go back.

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to GSK
  • Make sure you highlight your passion for the company in your application and interviews. Also make sure you do the tests when you are well rested as it is quite long. Do thorough research into the role and therapy area.
