    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • I worked with both the UK and global marketing teams on: project planning and management, client relationship management, developing marketing programmes and strategies, running virtual events and campaigns, identifying leads and opportunities, bid support- creating materials, market analysis and marketing techniques, delivering detailed analytics of campaigns, social media marketing- creating ads and tracking impressions, diversity and Inclusion Network/extracurricular activities, calls with clients and partners, and completed interactive training courses for interpersonal and digital skills.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I have developed on my communication skills when it comes to presenting, building rapport with employees and customers, and virtual communication. Increased commercial awareness, able to work effectively in a team as well as individually, can stay positive and motivated even in stressful situations, developed my problem solving skills, better at multitasking as you work on several projects at the same time, digital knowledge has definitely improved, and developed practical digital marketing skills as well as creativity.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I was given a lot of responsibility which was a pleasant surprise as quite often, interns do not get enough. I was able to participate and have a active role in projects and campaigns, even leading one of my own. Tasks were also meaningful and varied which gives you experience in multiple areas. Ideas from interns are always welcomed and taken on board. It is also worth noting that support and guidance was always given when needed.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • There was always great support for interns. I have weekly meetings with my engagement manager to check how I'm doing and if I need any help. Every new joiner is also allocated a buddy/mentor which was really helpful as they helped you to set up and answer any questions you may have. The team is also very supportive of one another and always happy to help out. There are also a number of different health and wellness resources for employees.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Despite working virtually at Atos during Covid-19, one of the best things about the company is the culture. There are always company-wide virtual socials you can attend, and in person meet ups when possible. There are also multiple charity and diversity and inclusion initiatives which you can get involved in, something which Atos greatly values and always promotes. The company also holds award ceremonies, sports related events, green/sustainability initiatives, wellbeing activities and Christmas socials to name a few.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I have definitely enjoyed my placement at Atos and hope to come back for a grad role. The work was challenging and varied but manageable and taught me a lot. The culture and people are great and supportive, although it is a shame we did not get to go into the office this year due to Covid-19. Despite this, the company still did a great job at making us feel welcomed despite everyone working virtually.

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to Atos
  • Research Atos well before applying to show your interest in the company. You also do not have to come from a digital or IT background to apply, many people including myself do not. It's also good to do a couple practice psychometric and numerical tests beforehand so that you know what type of questions to expect. For the assessment centre, read the materials carefully and give yourself time to prepare beforehand! For the group interview, remember it's not about who can talk the most, rather how well you work with others.
