  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • My role mainly consists of updating finance report files from partners, communicating internally with team members about costs, and updating budgets and actuals. Ad-hoc projects also take up a lot of time which vary month-on-month. These could be anything from subscriber modelling for a potential new launch territory to looking at an expansion of content in an established region.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I have learnt how to use different finance platforms such as SAP and SNAP. I have become familiar with the business model of an SVOD service in hayu; understanding the essential processes that have to be performed regularly. In terms of personal skills, the ability to communicate with my team and manage my own time/tasks has been very important due to working from home, so that has improved dramatically which I can take forward into my professional career.

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes, as the year progressed and I became more comfortable with the reporting and projects, I would present the findings/numbers to senior management after working on them. This gave me great presenting experience and confidence going forward. I would also send out various updates/monthly reports to the rest of the hayu business via email. This would be FX rates or transaction report data on a monthly basis.
