    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • The role will support the general product and distribution strategy across EMEA, as well as ensuring titles are configured accurately and to budget, on a timely basis. Day-to-day activities include monitoring dates, configurations, disc content.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I've developed my excel skills greatly, this will be useful going into final year. The role is also perfect for developing attention to detail skills. Working across multiple film titles has helped me develop my time management skills as well as task prioritisation.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • The role requires a high level of responsibility. I work within a tight team of four, where we have collective responsibility for the physical release of film titles. It's not a case of management work and then intern work.... We work as one, decisions made by yourself directly impact a films release. This is great exposure and will look excellent on a cv!

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • We received a great deal of support and guidance while undergoing our placement. Firstly, there is a one-week handover period whereby the previous interns work with new interns to show them the day-to-day work and how to operate the systems. This is very helpful! Everyone is very friendly and supportive, management are always happy to help. Disney also offer an intern programme, whereby there are monthly learning modules to help with building your employability and experience.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Unfortunately, due to Covid-19 my placement was completed remotely. But, from what I've seen from previous interns, the opportunity for exposure and socialising is endless. They went to black tie events and multiple film premieres. The company culture that I've experienced in zoom calls has been very inclusive and supportive!

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I have thoroughly enjoyed my placement! Disney are an excellent company to work for and I would highly recommend applying. The application process is straightforward and the interview process is supportive and completed in a relaxed environment- it felt more like a conversation than an interview. I would love to come back after I graduate :)

  • Yes

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to The Walt Disney Company
  • Make sure your cv is updated and easy to read. Make sure your covering letter shows your personality and shows why you want to work for Disney specifically. As for the interview, personality is a big part of the company, so try make sure you express your hobbies and interests as well! After all, they're looking for someone they want to work with every day, not just someone who can complete the role...
